Split becomes an option if the player’s hand consists of cards of the same value (e.g. a face card and 10). Player divides the hand by clicking Split and then placing a bet equal to the original bet. Only one split is allowed per hand. Whenever the dealer’s open card is an ace, 10 or face card, the dealer checks for blackjack before the player performs any action with his hand. Dealer stands on all 17s regardless of having an ace that can be counted as 1 (a soft hand).
There are three possible outcomes: Natural Blackjack (3:2), a normal win (1:1) and tie (a bet returns to the player). No insurance is offered so there is no insurance bet. The house edge in Multihand Blackjack is 99.23% under perfect play according to an adequate online blackjack basic strategy.
